New Script: BeatSound

Joshalot wrote on 6/30/2009, 8:38 PM

Hi

I've created a script which will insert audio events on a new track according to measures and beats. You input the number of measures, the "measure" sound, and the "beat" sound. Default sounds (from Sony Free Promo loops) are in the ZIP.
The measure sound will be inserted on the first beat of the measuer
The beat sound will be inserted on every beat. If you have 2 measures, you'll end up with
MBBBMBBB where M == Measure sound B == Beat sound

Grab the ZIP here:

This is my first script so I'd appreciate any testing or bug reports.
enjoy
Josh

Josh,
What version of Vegas is your script designed for?

I have v9 installed, that's what i used to build and test it.
Are you having trouble with it?

No trouble, I have version 8.0c. If it doesn't specifically say it is for my version (whatever that may be at the time), then I don't usually try it. Thanks.

Hi Josh,
Your script seems to work fine.
However, Vegas has an integrated metronome yet.

thanks, i wasnt actually aware of that feature.
However, it doesnt do what i want. I want a visual representation on the timeline i can use to align av events. Doing it aurally seems like a hassle and very repetative. eg, position, listen, adjust position, listen, etc.

i was also eager to take a crack at scripting :)

Easier just to set the ruler to display measures and beats (or bars and beats as we say over here) surely?

I would agree that you can approximate most of what the script does by using these different features. But dont mute my enthusiasm man!

I usually have the ruler set to m/b, but sometimes it needs to be as time for other things. Managing the zoom setting and snap unit can be a pain.

Ultimately what i want to do is manage transitions like verse/chorus sections so i can have the music vary in mood depending on what I am showing in video.
being able to see where the sections of the music will be is helpful for that. i will also be able to move the sections around if the video requires it.
then i can go back to acid music and make my loop music line up to these sections.
Its sort of a poor man's cinescore...
