New script request

It would be very helpful to have a script that would scan through a veg file and drop a marker on the timeline whenever the master audio level went above 0db. Even better would be an adjustable upper limit and the ability to select which audio track to analyze.

I don't believe this is possible with plain Vegas but there are so many features it's hard to be sure.

Thanks

Yes it would. But "plain Vegas" does have Wavehammer? It wont analyze but I can set limits.

And again, yes. I've brought this up many times in the past and have come to the conclusion that this type of "work" is ring-fenced to Sound Forge.

Doesn't the new SF10 do multi tracking? In which case maybe this is where the option would now lay.

Good request, but other than a 3rd party S/W to place markers, I can' think that any of our Scripting-Gurus will be able to respond. But I have often been wrong before!

Y'know, thinking about it further, IF a meter can register RED on a track, surely the programmers could convert this RED into a Marker? Could still be an SF thingy . . . .

The scripting API doesn't tell you the volume level at any particular point.

If you own Sound Forge, you can export (render as) the audio to WAV and then use the "Tools -> Detect Clipping" function. It will put markers at every point that exceeds zero dB.
