Sure a great camera. I always wondered how a combination of the 1" sensor with a big lens will do. Nothing mentioned about a 4K upgrade?

Edit: It actually looks like an upgraded HXR-NX3/1

Here's the official announcement:
https://blog.sony.com/press/sony-delivers-new-entry-level-professional-camcorder-with-1-0-type-sensor/

You are right OldSmoke, this is for entry level NXCAM camcorder, or perhaps for those who prefer 'bigger' body than PXW-X70 (which felt a bit 'small'), so SDI and 4K is not a necessary feature.

Already have all those highlighted feature on my recent purchased X70, so I can skip NX100.

I have been a long time user of Canon cameras and have come to point that I am disappointed in their new products. I would even admit that I am late to such realization.

For that reason I have been looking more closely at Sony cameras and there new releases. Simply, for the feature set, they are better performing and better priced than Canon.

I would say this new NX100 competes with the XF200, which is $500 more. My compliments to Sony for their efforts in respect to the cameras they are currently producing.

I am a bit disappointed; I just noticed that the NX100 has a 62mm filter connection. That would mean that the lens isn't as big as I initially thought. The Z5U, NX5U and NX3/1 use 72mm. The lens on the NX100 is not any bigger then on the PXW-X70 but features separate rings for zoom, focus and iris.

Edit: My old HDR-FX7 had a 62mm lens.

@Dach,

Beware of Sony cameras if you need to use a LANC controller. Some Sony cameras cannot use a LANC controller at all, some can but you have to jump through a lot of hoops to do so.

Also, other possible non-standard designs.

This might break what you can do with a Sony camera.
