New Stonefield Media Videos

Stan referred to some upcoming new videos within one of his post.

He hasn't gotten around to uploading them on the Chienworks site yet. So, I took a trip over to http://stonefieldmedia.com/ and noticed several new videos (SylviaMovie, HBTD and several others (several use a new consistent StoneField Media format (same titling, etc.)).

He's getting even better with these over time.

Like always, very nice work. Impressive lighting and filming, great editing, terrific directing and creative special effects.

I would love to try one of these--but it's a little hard finding such beautiful subjects. My wife's a babe, but she doesn't like to be filmed. Now my three year old little girl is a cutie...if she could just stay still! Perhaps my three boys could carry her around as "the princess." Just doesn't seem the same.

Congrats on the additional great examples.

I would still like to see some more tutorials (like the one you did where you filmed the direction). I would especially like one that shows how you setup your studio to produce such great shots. How do you set your lighting, placement of fans, green screen, how far you place your cameras, etc. I picked up some of the tipsfrom your first one, but I had to stop the video to see how it was setup, versus having you highlight the process.

Perhaps show us the entire setup, show the filming process, and then the final result. Keep 'em coming.

Thanks for the plug Ted..very cool of ya.

I've not posted Hold Back The Dawn and the original Sylive movie as the work has really started to repeat itself. ( I feel anyways ) Those two particular videos are actually quite old. I gotta get off my summer butt and do some more shooting. I've got two more models lined up, 10 days of summer holidays to work with and the keys to a downtown Vancouver studio. Hoo Ahh. Clear the hard drive ... It Be Vegas Time !

Yes, models are kinda hard to find and ( like Fleshpainter put it so well ) getting them together is like "herding cat's." As far as finding them, one of my recsources is One Model Place.

http://www.onemodelplace.com

It allows you to do a search in your area, and view their shots and can even email them. I've met several of my girls from there so you might wanna consider that. You can check out my profile there under Photographer 31329. You'll see some caps from a couple of my videos that I think Vegas does very well.
www.musecube.com is also another though I've not really explored that one.

I AM going to make a point of shooting more behind the scenes video specifically for the Vegas User's Group. The lighting setup is at the top of the requests and I will be sharing those techniques.

I want to encourage anyone that wishes to get into the new Motion Portfolios with models as much as possible. Any advice or support I can offer will be given no problem. I know MJRODDY had a shoot awhile ago that I've seen that looked really classy. We were in talks before his production date and I tried to answer any questions he had. I think he's well on his way to becoming another Model Movie video artist.

Any help you need Ted, and anyone else, just let me know.

Hi Stan
FYI. I have my first motion portfolio appointment this weekend, and another one lined up in the next couple of weeks. My hint for finding models is to get involved, heart and sole, in the world of entertainment, ie: music videos, work with bands, singers, etc. This is what I did and it seems to be working for me. Once you're recognized as a professional, the potential models won't think of you as a possible pervert who wants to get off by filming them dancing, instead they will trust and respect you. Good luck to all and thanks to Stan for an inspiration.

Thanks for the shout, Stan.
Yes, guys, Stan was mightily instrumental in my production. I pestered him a bit too much, I'm afraid, but he never let it get to him.
It was my first shoot (of this nature) and Stan's words of confidence helped immensely. So far, everyone has liked the finished spot (a :30 cable commercial).
I didn’t post any link here to the results, since I did the post in Boris and not Vegas.
I’m going to take the BetaSP footage that I shot that day, dub it to DV so I can do some editing at home with Vegas – pretty soon.
Thanks again Stan! For all the ideas, inspiration and support. -mjr

Well now, gorgeous women dancing to great music. Who needs it? What's the use?

All I can say is........ Thank GOD for high speed internet with it's excellent viewing capabilities!!!!! :-)

Thanks for giving me another positive note to being single... no girlfriend coming up behind me as I watch these saying "Whatya doin'?" And me having to answer "Research."

OK, how much time did it take/how did you get the flames to follow the (beautiful) contours of the models in your "James Bond" video.

The flames were some old stock footage I found ( low rez actually ) and unless I'm mistaken, some of the flames were also from Boris ( Ya Boris ! ) The timing as with all my stuff is just experimenting with layers, transitions and nudging the fire track ( oh, cool name ) back and forth.

Cool tip for fire footage....use the chroma keyer and select a black point on your footage and anything black will dissapear and you can see your underlying video. Use the blur in the chroma keyer and you'll get a smooth overlay...And another tip....use the track motion track with that and apply a drop shadow. Get it ??? You'll get an overlayed fire element projecting a shadow on the underlying track. Throw in some light rays that are the same color of the flames on your model !!! Use the GLOW filter with same color....on the flames....Heck, put light rays on those flames !!!

.....man Vegas rocks...

Rafalk Congrats and I wanna see the end products. Stay in touch.

Matt...you in now way bothered me buddy. Keep the emails and questions coming and I can't wait to see your "vegas" version of your footage.

Sorry Mario...don't think I answered your question. I figured out what you were referring to in the James Bond movie where at the end the flames are actually attached to the model....

Ok that was After Effects with the Eyecandy For After Effects Plug in. The model was shot against blue screen and then composited in front and behind two layers of fire. The farthest away track with a slight blur to give it some depth. Then I applied the filter called FIRE in AE to the model layer. Rendering took forever. It's kind of cheesy but it works. I'm a huge fan of fire and explosion effects and have been working on them for awhile now.

Hey Stan, You tried PIllusion from www.wondertouch.com? Some great fire effects, as well as a great many particle effects.
Renders like a bandit too! Big plus. Very keyframable.

where can I find the clips that you are referring to?
Chanimal wrote on 10/7/2004, 8:42 PM
Cooldraft,

Go to http://www.vegasusers.com/vidshare/

You'll see one of Stonefield's videos (already racking up the majority of viewers). Search for more Stonefield and you'll be in for quite a treat.

This is also a repository for a lot of Vegas user videos.
