Uncompressd AVI 's with audio: Video plays at 29.9 but audio does not play all the way through. It cuts out after about 45 sec. The more I play the clip the longer the audio plays back. Rendered clips play fine. Audio and Video Uncompressd AVI 's play fine in windows media player. No problem with DV clips.
System info:
Tyan S2885 w/ dual 2.4 opterons and 4 gigs DDR ECC 400 ram XP ser.1
Ge Force FX 5900XT w/128meg
M-Audio Revolution 7.1 (in stereo) ASIO Buffer 1792 Sample rate 48000
2 sets SATA HDs raid 0 s (thru-put tested fine)
Vegas 5d
Does anyone have a suggetion?

One suggestion, try taking the HD's out of RAID configuration and use them conventionally. Raid and NLE don't always get along too well and some people have even lost their video files as a result.

Playing back uncompressed taxes the heck out of any system and that you get smooth playback in WMP is a credit to your cpu power.

Why are you rendering uncompressed?

I am using Ultra a keying program and uncompressed AVI is the most compatable output. I tryed you suggetion and dumped the raid stripe having the same problem. Begining to think it is the mother board.

its not the motherboard ..

its the clips -- uncompressed avi + audio is very intensive ...

raid is used ALL the time (hardware raid) with NLE , im not sure what that would be an issue (maybe software raid)

you can quickly compress the uncompressed clips to huffyuv or sony yuv and they should play ok then ...

Does your post up show 4096 for the ram? Does the op system show 4096 also? If not, you might have to pull out 2 of the ram chips.

Plays back fine fron IDE system drive....undid raid, reformated drives, tested individually, Uncompressed AVI played video but audio stopped after 4 sec.
Each of the originially stripped drives making up the raid set could not play the AVI without loosing audio. The AVI plays fine from the IDE system drive.

Am i wrong to rule out Ram and focus on the M-board? It seems to weird for both drives to be hosed.
