Thank you for bringing this to our attention. I've signed up and sent a message of support for a separate Vegas section.

Fair bit of interest starting on the thread. I am hoping we get our own catagory soon. Then we can post other topics, rather like here.

What do you think - is this good to have the option of another open forum for Vegas, and bear in mind its not just about Vegas. Or does anyone feel this is just distracting from this forum? Taking away from the great community already here.
Would be interested to hear your point of view.

Paul.

Paul,

I joined the PB forum and look forward to participating.

I must say that in most other forums, I'm answering more questions than I'm asking. On this (the SCS) forum, I'm asking more questions than I'm answering. In other words, the Sony Vegas Pro knowledge is here.

Good question Paul - I would not like to just dismiss other Vegas forums - I was once a "leader" on the Creative Cow Vegas forum, until an unfortunate situation which I won't go into .... but to some extent I think it is counter-productive to have Vegas forums here there and everywhere - but in a "democratic" world I guess there's no way of stopping 'em.

Anyway, for me - this is "home" and all the others are "luxuries" which I can indulge in, should I so choose .... which I don't very often these days

I totally agree with 'this' forum being a great source of information. No argument there at all. I have learned so much from the wealth of knowledge available here. And i thank everyone for that. The SCS forum is one of a kind imho. And regardless of other forums out there, this one is here to stay im sure.

The way i see this new forum is, its an opportunity to spread the Vegas love and just get in there and start posting generally. Show life on the other side - and its good!.
Its also a good place for crossover, seeing other NLE operators in action and there will be direct comments from other NLE users to us. Some will not always be good i'm sure - Already had one comment over twitter which basically said something on the lines of 'looking for acceptance, snif' .. Whatever.. Thats bound to happen. Considering my tweet about the Vegas thread on there was re-tweeted to something like 38000 people. One slightly negative aint bad.
I think other NLE users are curious, whats all this Vegas Pro merlarky all about? Well, they would find out soon enough.

Its a free choice! I like options, even if i dont always take them its good to know they are there. Thats my opinion on it. I dont see it as harmful, but wanted to know how others on here see it. Good comments.

Paul.

I don't feel any other forum will ever replace this one as the prime source of info for users; I look at the PB forum as good Vegas marketing that we can participate in. Philip is such a great resource in the world of gear and production technique, I think a presence there can only help the perception of Vegas as an editing option.

This forum is really great, but I believe having ourselves monitor the PB forum once in a while and show that Vegas exists, will be beneficial to all of us, Vegas being a viable alternative as a powerful NLE.

I have been following PB at his very beginning on the web, just when he bought an EX1, so did I, and would therefore exchange with him about EX1 issues...
But all that time, have I seen a mention of Vegas about 4 times on his blog.

I monitor many forums and was surprised how Vegas is rarely mentioned as an NLE. Seems that if you are an editor, you have 3 choices: FCP, Premiere or Avid. And lately a fourth choice, not Vegas but FCPX.

For some reason, I always thought FCP was the big thing but never tried it because I didn't own a MAC then but heard so much about it.
Upon the release of FCPX, I ran across this blog: http://www.mikejones.tv/journal/2011/4/13/new-fcp-x-is-really-not-so-new.html
and then truly felt the pain FCP editors have been going through for all those years.

So I feel having ourselves posting out there and helping out will be beneficial.

I have been using Vegas for over 10 years in broadcast and corporate work.

ok everyone, i am probably not going to mention this new forum anymore. Thanks to those of you that voted for Vegas!! And for the comments left.

Not sure of this is enough for Philip to make us a catagory, we will just have to wait and see. But at least I and those who voted, made an effort to put us on the map.
If you do get time, go check out some of the other threads on there, its a mine of information regarding loads of other interesting topics, not just NLEs!

Thanks again - I will leave this alone now for anyone to make a choice if you feel like it.
Make no mistake - i will be staying on here too!!

cheers.
Paul.

I agree with Rob.

If others can see the caliber of people who use Vegas and who are able to discuss Vegas very intelligently, this is about as good of a promition that Vegas can ever expect to get!!!

I'm just a retired hobbieist now, but I've been with this forum for 10 years and it is the best forum I have ever participated in. I don't know much about Philip Bloom, but if other pros from around the world are gathering there, it would be a good place to at least get some mention.
