This is probably more than one topic but they are all somewhat related.
Over the Thanksgiving I used my sisters Canon HF100 to shoot a bunch of HD video of the days festivities. I brought the clips home on a flash drive and loaded them into my computer.
Vegas 8 had no problem with the m2ts files and they played on the time line predictably. I have a q6700 cpu with 4 gigs of ram and I monitor on my widescreen computer monitor while vegas is open on another screen. My project properties are set to be the same as the video clips, 1920x1080 60i. Preview is set to auto. Generally the frame rate is ok most of the time but simple edits (cross fade) will drop the frame rate to single digits. If I do any plugins the frame rate is pretty dismal.
Is there any way to convert the m2ts files to a less compressed format with a larger file size? I tried a program called Avisynth but couldn't get vegas to play anything that was created.
I also read somewhere on this forum that you could burn about 20 mins of bluray to a regular DVD. I tried this with DVDA 5 and it worked and the disk would play in my BD player but it would start to stutter after about 30 seconds of smooth and beautiful playback. If I paused it would play fine again for another 30 seconds before doing it again.
Am I doing something wrong or missing something obvious?
I'm so impressed with her camera that I'm going to get one for myself. I like the flash card format. It's great to be able to get the clips into the computer without waiting for the long capture process.
Cheers, William
