New to Vegas-One quick question

Towbar wrote on 2/14/2007, 6:29 PM
Just purchased VMS + DVD Platinum, so I have a long way to go. Been a Pinnacle Studio user for years, so I realize it will be hard to "unlearn" and learn at the same time.

I am not used to using 2 different programs in my edit and burn process. So I am just going to take it one step at a time.

Just to help me out, I have one quick question. After I edit my video in VMS and add chapter marks, will these chapter marks transfer into DVD Architect?

Thanks

You can add markers in vms and these will appears as chapters in dvda. Alternatively you can leave it alone in vms and just add the chapters in dvda.

Cheers,
Michael.

welcome fellow former Pinnacle user.. i think you'll find that Vegas, although a bit harder to learn than Pinnacle, is a great program - and much more stable. things like basic editing (no scene detection) and transitions work a bit differently but you'll figure it out..
i still like Pinnacle but it has too many quirks..

Hey towbar, welcome over here. A few other's have made it over here recently.

Yes, the learning curve is a little higher than S10, but once you get going, watch out.

While it is different to have to render the project to a file then use it in DVDA to create the disc, it's a better way to go. As pointed out, the chapter marks do transfer. But the best thing is having total control of menu button order and default buttons on menus.

Have fun using VMS and post those questions.

Thanks for the welcome. Vegas seems to be a "Preferred" editor, I just wish I had started years ago. Actually, Pinnacle is starting to make me a little frustrated, after all, 3 years into it and I am still trying!

VMS Installed quickly, and seems to work very stable, but I have to get rid of a startup error. An exception occurred ...... Sony_Grovel_Event. I searched and found it has something to do with Realplayer or Divx. (Studio 10 perhaps?) Gonna tackle this error this weekend.

Then I can get started.

Thanks
Mike

Towbar, there are many of us ex-Pinnacle S10 (and 7, 8, 9) users over here. As mentioned, VMS7 has a bit of steeper learning curve, but WOW is it worth it. If you have VMS7 + DVD Platinum, watch the VASST DVD and you'll be cookin in no time. Didn't get the Platinum version? No problem, go to the VASST website and buy their training video.

As others have mentioned, the chapters transfer. Make sure you have the save chapter checkbox selected on final output. DVD Architect Studio is more manual than Pinnacle, but you'll get used to the freedom.

I have the Platinum, and watched the VAAST DVD. Those guys are smart. They showed just enough to make me want to purchase their training video, which I plan to do.

I taught myself Studio 8,9,10. No books or training. I plan NOT to do that again. For instance, "Quote: Make sure you have the save chapter checkbox selected on final output." I would have probably missed that point, and would be frustrated. In time, those type of important things will be second nature.

Anyhow, thanks! "I'll Be Back"
