New toy + yardstick

Just added a MOTU 24i to my 2408/2 .

FWIW

I tried recording all 48 inputs at the same time. CPU load was 28% on an Athlon 2600+ with 512MB machine.

Will add more measurements to this thread as I think of them, like recording 1 track while pb 24, rec 24 -pb 24 etc.

geoff

No that I've EVER felt the need to record 48 inputs, but I have needed more than 8 on occasions ....

Cool! I'm assuming the 48 were @16/44.1.....I run 24i and 2408 w/324 card. Let us know what the pci's buffer setting is at as well....

Ooops, sorry, got a bit ahead of myself - that was 24 channels recording, not 48. Will do that later this monrning and post. Duh.

PCI 324 card. 24/44K1

MOBO is NVidia A7N8X, RAM running 'dual channel'. Seagate Barracuda V 7200 at UDMA5

OK, finally got it sorted.
24/44k1/mono
Rec 24 trax 35%
Rec 1 PB 24 18%
Rec 24 PB 24 63%

but..

Rec 48 trax, record proceeds at 78% cpu, first 15 sec displays, rec cursor keeps moving. When stop, there is only the first 15 seconds recorded (no, disk was not full). Then some funky crashes.

HJowever I will add that this included track from DA-** and ADAT inputs with no devices attached, so who knows... !

;-)
