New update before the new year ?

KaraUSA wrote on 12/8/2019, 11:13 AM

Will there be a new update before the New Year is approaching very quickly? I hope this time it will really take into account what the Vegas Pro members want, I keep asking to have new video codecs for export, and since then, the VP team does not do not take into consideration my request for this side. And if possible to export above 8K.
Thank you

Export above 8K? Good luck with that. I can't see this happen any time soon. Maybe 6+ yrs later. I rather wanting and wishing that Magix willing to work on the support of AMD decode is a much much better choice.

Support of AMD decode - RX 5700 XT.

I'm using AMD GPU but I'm not sure that I would like to have the AMD GPU decode acceleration implemented.

Well, I'd like to have better performance for sure.

But while reading all these threads about issues with NVIDIA GPU I afraid that something might be broken for AMD GPU and I will be forced to disable something in settings to restore stability and this will not only disable new decoder but some else and at the end the performance would be even lower.

AMD Decode h265 is so important on Vegas Pro future. Most likely the future is h265 for 8K. 5K and 6K currently already using h265. We needs AMD Decode supports now Magix!

Why not hevc export in 12bits ?

Yes, AMD graphics support in VP17 for sure. But I'm still struggling with constant crashes doing nothing that challenges VP17. Single video track and 3 audio tracks with a video that so far is only 2 minutes long.

So yes, a more stable update for me is priority. I get the wonderful white screen and looking at taskmanager, VP has stopped responding.

What I want is not something "nice to have", or more stability (albeit the latter can be very frustrating and welcome to improve), but that Vegas POST can be launched (and work) if you have Boris Continium installed on your system. I am still unable to use Vegas POST already from when it launched for almost half a year. I have filed bug reports on the matter on the 3 parties involed (Magix, Boris and Hitfilm), and they acknowledge the issue (and they also acknowledge that I am not alone), they are still looking for a solution. Fine, probably not an easy thing to solve if 3 companies are involved, but come on, my patience is running thin. Very thin.

I do not typically announce specifically what is or is not coming in an update, but because it is such a hot button issue at the moment, I will let you know that the next update of VP 17, which is being finalized right now, will not have AMD decoding support in it. We are actively working on hardware decoding via AMD cards, but it is taking much longer than we had hoped to get a stable implementation. With that said, we truly believe that we will have the feature available in a future update of VP 17.

And we do have an update to VEGAS Post which will be release in conjunction with the next VEGAS Pro update.

And that folks is great customer support, right from the horse's mouth. You don't get that with all most any software these days. I do have an AMD but I also have an i7 so I get decoding using it. But really I am impressed with folks who communicate both good and bad news, keeping the customers up to date with information is very rate now days but incredibly important. Again, thank you.
