Did upgrade to a new version Vegas 17pro 421 today....and is crushing all the time about once a minute
Can I have old version back working on project and now is just a disaster in the making

do a restore in windows to get back the previous version
All good I can install older version but how about Vegas Project? it is convert to a newer version so now do not wish to be open....
Instead of rolling back to an older version, perhaps we should try to identify what is wrong with your current version instead, as we might be able to fix it.
Post your project settings and a mediainfo report (link to download below) of the media used in your project. This will get us started with helping you.
All of that is great but Im editor and cinematographer...and have zero ability to be a IT tech (serious dyslexia) even have to ask kids to type serial number.... So you would like me to upload one or more video clip plus a copy of the project?
