New User Problems

Hello All,

Using Vegas Platinum Edition and I am having a difficult time with the program on my laptop. I was told I needed more memory so I upgraded to 2G, however I am still unable to preview my work of 3 minutes which simply includes photos to music, nor will it allow me to render. It freezes up on me.

Thanks for any help.

Don't know if this will help, but does the laptop meet the suggested requirements? Especially video card?

Yes, the laptop does meet and exceed all the requirements. Thanks for the suggestion.

Charmaine:

The only other suggestion I would have is turning off all unnecessary background programs. I use the newest version of end-it-all, called Task Power. It might be something to try. Maybe try turning off your virus software. Other than that, maybe someone more knowlegeable than myself will be able to help.

Good idea -
You may also press CTRL+ALT+DEL and so start the Windows Task Manager. Under the tab Performance you can see if it is the CPU usage that is the bottleneck.
If the CPU usage gets high - you might change the preview quality down to draft or preview...

Thanks so much, you both were on target as the computer tech I took it to did in fact shut down programs running in the back then reviewed the task manager for usage. It should be running but to no avail. His next suggestion is to remove the program then try uploading again?

Don't upgrade your video card - it makes little or no difference to VMS! Freezing during the rendering sounds like an overheating problem, but if that was affecting the preview I'd expect other apps to be having problems too. You don't say what happens when you try to preview - does it always go wrong in the same place? Are all your photos the same size / file type?
