New User Question

I am a new user of Vegas and am wondering:

I can use theText tool in the media generator to do some text just fine but is there a way to have simple shapes as well such as lines, rectangles, etc.

I frequently need text with a simple callout line that points out something in the image. I know I can create this in another app but I'm wondering if this is possible somehow in Vegas?

Many people use fonts like Wingdings which have several different shapes to do things like this.

You can also create lines and rectangles by starting with a solid color from Media Generator, and change it with the Pan/Crop tools.
