New User- Rendering help

Hello,

I got a copy of Vegas Platinum Pro for christmas. It's mainly for me to edit together some climbing videos that I shoot with my Vixia HF200. I had been putting them together on some free software, but the render quality was horrible and the videos always had a watermark.

Anyway, I finally got around to putting together a long video (35 minutes) of a recent climbing trip. I had no trouble with compiling and editing( though I'm sure I skipped a lot of advanced options that would have helped me) the video, but I've been having a horrible time trying to get a render to work.

1 render was able to finish without crashing, an avi file that ended up being 40.3 GB. Obviously too big for me to upload onto vimeo and share with my friends. Vegas either crashes, gives me the error code; 0xC0000005 , or sits at 0% rendering for an hour. Does anyone have any suggestions for me? The video files I've used are .MTS or AVCHD. I've tried rendering in several different formats, but no use.

Any help is mucho appreciated. Thanks alot,

-Josh

Hey Josh -

You've come to the right place... Vegas will work... a couple questions:

What formats, specifically, have you tried? The more specifics the better.

What., specifically, has happened when you "crashed"? Always at the same place in your video? Always with the same error message?

Ideas for you:
- Use google to search "exporting with vegas render for vimeo hd" and you'll likely come across some good advice... in particular look for the esteemed Eugenia's advice.

I'll run through a rendering test and will list the result each render produces. I've been trying AVC, MPEG, and AVI mostly, but I'll run some tests and be more specific about it.

So I went through and tried to render on several different settings. I only tried the settings that would make the movie < 500 mb.

.mpg froze on all settings right at the beginning. The program didn't crash but it would not move past 0%.

.mov (1mbps) failed at some point during the render. I'm not sure when. It started working and then I left it alone and when I came back it had a failed message

.avc (25p) caused the program to crash.

.wmv (default settings) failed at 1% and it said the reason for failure was not determined.

.avi got to 39% once and then froze and it got to 53% anothing time and then froze
