I check a couple of times a day.

There's some pretty interesting and creative work to be seen!

I decided to wait until the last couple days of the contest, then dl them all to my HD & view them.

Then vote (I already voted, but don't want to re-chec every day!)

Newbie here...

Where is this posted at?

Link...?

Narrowgate, go to the VASST site at www.vasst.com

The link for the video contest is at the upper right of the page. You have to register, but it's no big deal and there's lots of useful info on the site, aside from the interesting contest clips.

I've enjoyed watching this contest more than I thought I would have. Keeping entries to 10 seconds was a very good idea. A lot of interesting movement in the rankings recently. We're all entitled to our taste but I suspect some people are having friends sign up just to vote for them.

Welcome to Hollywood! <g>

29 Entries
856 Votes Cast
That would be 282 Registered Voters casting 3 Votes

Seems plausible to me. Not sure how some of em have as many votes as they do ( which I only talk crap since its anonymous and I'm not naming names !!! ) but different strokes for different folks I suppose.

Though I will say that if anyone is stuffing the ballot or getting friends to register and vote for em' that's pretty chitty, let your work stand or fall on its own merits. Can't imagine anyone would for something like this but it would be a drag.

"its anonymous and I'm not naming names"

It's not entirely anonymous. Some of the files unfortunately have meta data revealing the authors.

It is a lot of expensive software being given out plus the thrill of competition. Perhaps it would be more fair if only those who entered got to vote, but hey, no system is going to be fool proof.

I think its fun stuff, some are good some are ? , but what the hell ,people trying and putting their work out there is pretty cool. Pros and beginners and all in between looks like to me. And at least everyone has a vote or two.

I agree with Muttley, work should stand on its own legs. Stuffing the ballot box may ( I stress MAY) cause a win in some cases, but it doesn't give the producer a realistic idea of what people REALLY think of the work.

Plus, it's cheating.

In these contests, as in almost everything else, having fun is a lot more important than recieving something. The prizes are very generous and they'd be nice to have, but if you ain't having fun, you've lost, even if you win.

Actually guys....since the contest has started, we've not seen any blip on the normal daily registration. We enroll between 12 and 20 users a day, but it's been marginally dropping the past couple months. Believe me, we're watching for this. There is only one vid that might be suspect, and yet it's not very highly ranked. (yet) so we're watching that one closely.

There are several really, really creative ones in there. I'm surprised at the quality. Everyone wants that Ultra, eh?

Don't lose heart, because after this one, we'll be holding another, even though it's a different kind of contest. We'll try to do one every other month, now that we've got some great support from Sony, Serious Magic, ADS, Rode, Audio Technica, and NAB Bookstore.

Keep em' coming! I like watching them too!

I haven't seen the latest entries, but was a little surprised that most of the entries seemed to been 10-second ad for Vegas.

Was that the intent or could the vids have been something else (asking for next time)?

They didn't need to be ads for Vegas, but that seems to be a direction of some of them. It only needs to mention Vegas somewhere. Even a "made in Vegas" frame over top of giraffe neck wrestling would be fine. There are a couple in there, very creative, that Vegas is barely noticable, but it's there.
