New York University and Vegas

I'm a film student at NYU, and I'm specializing in the field of audio design. When I saw Vegas for the first time, I thought it was amazing, and was very excited to use it instead of other audio solutions. (Protools, etc.)

I have however, now that I've learned more about what needs to happen in the film industry, been very disappointed by Vegas' audio capabilities. While the interface is much easier to use than ProTools, there are a few things that Vegas doesn't support that are vital for the sound industry: Broadcast Wave Creation and OMF reading/exporting.

I talked to my professor about Vegas, and possibly using it for the school. I thought that there would be real BWF support in version 6. He considered purchasing and teaching it. However, seeing that there is no BWF or OMF support, he decided against using Vegas for the school, and instead purchased the latest versions of ProTools and Logic.

It's sad, though I really like the user interface of Vegas, it's looking more and more like it's not a truely professional solution...
and because of one or two little features... (BWF and OMF support)

Yeah, we have been complaining for years about OMF support. Some of us use OMF conversion utilities, like " the cui bono EDL Convert"... that works good, or just a two-pop sync slate for simple stuff.
Full BWF file support would be nice. AAF is a step in the right direction..
PTs is far from perfect too.

there are a few other features it could use since day 1 as well, but glad to see you here, and keep fighting the good fight for vegas!
