Solocinema wrote on 8/9/2004, 2:38 PM
The debut meeting of the New York Vegas User Group will be held on Tuesday Sept 14 at 7pm at the Westport Business Center, 500 W 56th St in New York City (entrance on 10th Avenue). The group is open to anyone who uses Sony’s acclaimed Vegas video editing program, as well as to anyone who wants to find out more about Vegas.

This first meeting will feature a screening of the two award-winning films that were edited with Vegas and were among the top honorees at this year’s New York 48-Hour Film Project. Filmmakers Ron Houghtaling and Eric J. Kritzler of Cup o’ Meat productions and Bill Dyszel of SoloCinema Productions will show how Vegas helped them achieve audience-pleasing results under insanely tight deadlines.

After the screening, there will be a discussion about future plans for the group. All are welcome to participate.

Admssion is free. Please call 212.208.2939 or email nyvug@pcstudio.com to RSVP to ensure that seats will be available.

What 2 films were edited with VEGAS? Where can we view them?

The two were Area 2 Slash 2 and Glee, both at the NY 48-hour film project. You can see them at the meeting on 9/14.

I'll have to see. I know my wife loves NYC and would go at any excuse, but not necessarily to a User Group meeting ;) It's also a 3.5 hour drive each way for us. Hopefully though ...

If the threat level stays put and I don't get mandated I'll definitely put the time aside.

I keep meaning to ask you - where are you anyway? How near Saratoga/Albany/Schenectady are you? I just got an email today about something you might love to go to - actually a lot of people here might love to go to it. John Sayles is going to premiere his new film in the area and he and Maggie Renzi are doing panel discussion on the art of filmmaking prior to the premiere. For 20 bucks I hope to be there on the 18th, as for the NYC deal - rather than drive why not park in Poughkepsie and take Metro North down? Save the traffic hassle and parking cost of the city.

Filmy, are you asking me? I'm guessing you are since you replied to my message.

I'm in Hobart, near Stamford, Delhi, & Oneonta, if you've ever heard of them. It's about 60 miles southwest of Albany. We can get to the airport in about 85 minutes and Saratoga in about 2 hours. The Metro is a good idea. We're planning that when we go to pick up some friends from Washington who are flying into NYC in October.

Where abouts are you located?

shameless plug mode:

Gosh! I'm working that day! I would LOVE to attend, but can't that day. (Sad)

I hope that there will be more meetings to follow. Also, maybe there could be a Vegas Users meeting held near Albany, NY someday?!?!? That would be cool.

Please keep us posted for future meetings. I love to go down to the city and be "Mr. Tourist". I'd go down for a NYC Vegas Users get together in a heart-beat. . . . if I wasn't working. (sigh)

>>> Filmy, are you asking me?<<<

Yeepers.

>>>I'm in Hobart, near Stamford, Delhi, & Oneonta, if you've ever heard of them.<<<

Yes I have. Oneonta - my cousin was going to college there and I know anothe rperson currently going there as well. But beyond that - Copperstown, Howes Cave and the the Iroquois Indian Museum. One thing I do love about this areas is the history...one tends to forget how much the area shaped this country.

>>>Where abouts are you located?<<<

near by. :) if you go to the Vegas users meeting you can shoot over 30a and pick me up. LOL! But that would be out of your way. But you know if you might be going to the yearly gathering at the Iroquois Indian Museum we should meet up. If you have never gone - go. it is nice and relaxing there.
