Newbe - Deleting From the Timeline

Cabin wrote on 5/25/2009, 7:31 AM
Hello,
Please excuse the newbe question but i'm really new here
I have 15 secs that I want to delete from the begining of the time line
I can select it and delete it but when I move the timeline back to the left over the area that I deleted, the deleted video and audio come back. It's like its really still there even though I deleted it.

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks a bunch,
Bob

I don't what you ARE doing, but I simply right click on the media to selected it and hit delete. It's gone.

When I highlight the area to be deleted and right click I don't get the option to delete
I get

Open
Insert Audo
Insert Video
Preferences
Zoom Selection

I got it
After you delete, then drag the clip back to the right

The first thing you should try is to double click the empty area to the left of your video and press the delete key on the keyboard. Double clicking blank space will select it and then pressing delete will remove the blank space.

If that doesn't do it for you...
I believe you need to "delete" the beginning of your video by trimming the beginning by dragging it to the right or using the S key to split it at the current cursor location.

If you have trimmed it so that there is empty space at the beginning, then grab the remaining video object and drag it to the left. DO NOT GRAB THE LEFT EDGE of the object, but reach further in and get the entire object. Grabbing the left edge will "un-trim" the video and put back what you thought you deleted.

If you used the S key to split the video in to 2 pieces, right clicking in the middle fo the first piece of video should give you a menu with the delete option, but you'll still need to drag the next part of the video to the left.

It is difficult to explain these operations in text.
