Hey everyone, i'm william and have just picked up vegas 5. I have a couple of questions about what all this program can do and how to accomplish...stuff.

K, first can vegas do green/blue screen? How can it be done?

Second, how can i take like an object out of the picture, like a skateboard out from under the skater. Is this possible with this program?

Third, are the any GOOD tutorials or anything for the advanced stuff in this program?

And finally Fourth, where can i get some cool FREE plug-ins for vegas 5?

Well, thanks for taking the time to read and answer my questions. Later
-William

Don't forget to do searches... I got about a dozen hits on "blue screen"

Since you're new you may not be aware of the built-in search feature of the forum. The only down side is the hits can be a large number and its hard to focus in on specifics. For example if you search for blue screen on the first few pages there isn't a lot of help, but if you enter chroma keying you'll do better. Also besides the forum and the various web sites Vegas does have one of the better help system built into the application. Its worth your time to check it out, also there is a hefty PDF manual you can download from the Sony site that's a good jumping off point.

I don't want to hog the thread, its unusual for more not to jump in. The one thing you should do is ask more focused questions. Starting a thread with Newbie needs help can result in a lot of people that would otherwise help skipping over your posts, not knowing what you want.

I would change the thread title to Need help with chroma keying or blue screen. That probably will get more responses. If not, I'll jump back in later or tomorrow. Welcome to the Vegas family.

This is a big list of Vegas Links, there's a section just for tutorials. Check out the page for Vegas Tips, Tricks and Scripts. It's a newsletter with Vegas tutorials and it has a section for beginners.

Vegas can do chromakey. Search on Chromakey tutorial.

Removing a skateboard is called rotoscoping, check this out.

Wax has rotoscoping. Don't know how well it works.
