Newbie Audio Questions

I Have a couple of questions about the audio in Vegas.

The first time i used Vegas, i was using Version 3.0 and captured the video through USB. (the video was very cloudy, and the audio at the end of the track was way off). But when i started to edit the video, i noticed that every time i cut a clip out, the audio got farther and farther off from where is was supposed to be. It Became very Frusterating trying to line the audio up with the Video.

Fast forward to Today

I have purchased my own copy of Vegas 4.0 and a Sony TRV-22 to make my own movies, The computer i have has a firewire port, and i have captured the video to the computer. The Audio seemed to stay lined up the entire time it was capturing.

So here are my questions:
1) When i edit this video will the Audio stay lined up with where it should be? or is there something special that i need to do to keep it lined up?

2) The Audio i recorded was in Mono (with a Mic). When i put it into Vegas, where there are normally two small tracks, there is now one big one. When i render it, is there a way to have it render so that the audio will come out on both speakers? or will Vegas do that for me?

3) Is there a FAQ site where alot of my newbie questions are answered already?

Thanks
Steve

Yes, the audio will stay locked to the video unless you by chance ungroup them or work with them separately.
Vegas will automatically render your mono file into two mono, or psuedo stereo.
You're on the best website for newbie questions. There is also the Vegas forum at http://www.dmnforums.com and on the http://www.vasst.com site.
Vegastips&tricks.com, and a few other sites are out there for you to peruse.

With the Audio being locked with the Video, why did i have such a hard time with Vegas 3.0 keeping the audio lined up with the video? Was it from using the USB to capture the Video in the first place?

Yes - USB capture is a known problem, although it may change in the future with USB2 and a new generation of cameras.

DV and firewire have traditionally gone hand in hand - I'm surprised you had a USB video device a fair while ago - what was it?
