Newbie Help with DVDA

HI. I'm new to this so please excuse my ignorance. I created a menu background in Vegas with text on it (a motion video with sound and all) . I imported it to DVDA and want to use the Vegas created text as the links to the next menu. I just want the text to change color when the mouse (or dvd remote) highlights it. I dont want a thumbnail or any other text or anything else. When I try to create this I get an error that says empty text and it looks really ugly. I have read the manual and searched through old posts here but am still stuck. Can anyone help me? I would really appreciate it.

Check out some of the other threads in the forum for *detailed* instructions.

Basically you want/need to create a mask where you want the hi lites. Easiest way IMHO is create your text in p/shop or whatever, save a version as a png with transparent background with your text black (this is your mask) -- use a color version in Vegas to composite with your background vid.
