Ok brand new, have Sony HDR-SR5 hard drive HD AVCHD and Sony VMS 9 Platinum and can't get by first step, capturing video into my computer. HDR-SR5 is in a cradle hooked into computer via usb. I open Vegas turn on video camera, when I play video it does not capture, if I try import avchd it says "An error occurred while opening one or more files, corrupted or unkown format". If anyone can help me get my video into my computer that would be great. Thanks!

Shad801....

My guess is since you are connecting your camera to the computer via USB and your camera stores the video files to its built-in hard drive, that hard drive should show up on your computer as another drive in Windows Explorer. If that is the case, I don't think you want to "Capture Video". I think you can choose another option, "Import Media". Then drill down to the drive in your camera and then bring in the files.

For these AVCHD camcorders, all you need to do is copy the files you want to your Hard drive once you connect the camera to your computer. You can even do this in Windows Explorer. Alternatively, use the "Import AVCHD Camcorder" function in the File menu.
