I'm very embrassed but I need some help.

Just got a HDV HC7 camcorder and having trouble downloading video to my computer (I tried using Vegas 6.0 and the software tool that came with the camcoder). What cable should I be using? How do I connect the i.LINK to my computer if it lacks a i.LINK port? Can I use a i.LINK USB cable? Or do I have to buy a i.LINK card?

Thanks.

iLink = IEEE 1394 (Firewire). You need a Firewire card. Sony calls it iLink, the rest of the world calls it Firewire (IEEE 1394). USB is not good for transfering video. You will need a Firewire cable. I don't do HDV yet, so that's about as far as I can take you. Sony digital 8 cameras use a firewire cable that has 4 pins that connect to the camera and 6 pins that connect to the computer)
Somebody should chime in about the type of firewire card. Or do a search about firewire cards.
SInce I don't do HDV and haven't really looked into it, somebody should verify what I've said.

I use a $15 firewire card from somewhere on the net. No problems!

but you capture the same way as DV except use the "internal capture device" in vegas.
