Newbie question

I'm sure this has been covered, but I'm hoping someone can give me a quick answer. I'm using MS4 and DVD AS and would like to create a DVD with 8 chapters and a slide show. I would like to have a play all button and also links to all of the chapters and the slideshow.

Is it best to create one file from MS or 8 different ones ? Also, is it best to use AVI or MPEG ?

I'm a newbie as well, so I'll defer to others that have more experience, but what I do is load the avi file from VMS into DVDA, and drop the avi onto the main menu, then double clide the the main icon which then brings up the avi file. I then add chapter markers and titles for each section I want to have scene selections, e.g., slide show, various highlights, etc... Then on the main menu, select the main icon, then go to insert scene selection, and it automatically creates a new link on the main menu, entitled scene selection, double click on that and it automatically show all of the chapters I created.
