Newbie question

I've created a slideshow for a party for my daughter that I'm pretty happy with. I want to put it on to a DVD so I can play in my DVD player and onto my TV (non-widescreen). I tried unsuccessfully to use the "burn disk" function on the program. I have three tracks - pictures, text, and music. What's the best way to do this? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The DVD should be created in DVD Architect, which you should have if you have a newer version of Vegas (starting with version 6, i think?). Render your slideshow to an MPEG 2 file using the DVD Architect template (choose NTSC or PAL appropriately). Render the audio to an AC3 file, giving it the same name as the MPEG 2 file except for the .ac3 extension.

You can then drag this MPEG 2 file onto the main menu page in DVD Architect and it will set up a DVD with a play button to play the slide show. There are a zillion other fancy things you can add at this stage, but doing just this will be sufficient to get a playable DVD. Prepare and burn there.

Thanks for the reply. After a few hours I finally got it onto a disk. When I play it on my DVD player however, the movie is choppy - almost like a cassette tape that's bad. My DVD player is about 3 years old - could it be that it's not conducive to the type of file that I rendered?

Make sure you apply 'reduce interlace flicker' on all of your pictures. It is one of the 'switches' that can be accessed by right-clicking on the photo in the timeline.
