newbie question 1: avi and movie studio quality?

(this is my first post: still using the movie studio 3.0a trial)

when i upload my digital camcorder footage, it looks fine within move studio. if i view the .avi clip files (or .avi saved movies) with windows media player, i see a ton of compression artifacts. am i doing something wrong?

my plan is to burn dvds but if i need to convert to mpeg2 from the resulting artifact-filled avi files, how good can my mpegs be?

thanks.

i found a setting in windows media player to fix this.

under tools/options/performance/advanced, there is a slider for "digital video" that was not all the way to the right. sliding it all the way to the right makes the video look much better. i think windows media player was scaling for some reason and that was creating the artifacts.

false alarm!

Just make sure when you render to MPEG to use the DVD template and you should be fine.
