Newbie Rendering Question, Need Help Please.

Here is my system: P4 1.7, 512mb ram, 140 gigs and Sony DRU-500AX. Here is my problem: After I render from avi to mpeg 2, it still takes a very long time to "Prepare and Burn" a final to DVD. I thought having it Pre-prepared Meg2 files would speed up the process considerably. Am I leaving out a step?

It does take time for it to "prepare" and "burn." If you are seeing it "render," then your files are not DVD compliant, or are too large to fit on a DVD. Preparing creates the VOB files from your MP2 files.

BTW, I think it always has to render, or re-render any motion menus, so don't be shocked if you see that happening.

Get familiar with the File > Optimize dialog.

Is MPeg 2 to VOB file the quickest way? Should is come from another format? Are all DVD Authoring softwares like this, that is having a huge "Preparing" time. If that is the case, I certainly hope they fix that problem on the next version.

You have to start with MPEG2. If you start with another format, it will render to MPEG2 and then prepare.
