How do you tell what version you have installed?

Open New Blue titler. Click help and then click about NBtitler

Is there any way to know what version is available for download without downloading it and installing it?

It's not so new. It is the same as the one I downloaded on 19th Feb.

The lack of ANY version numbers for plugins on their website has been a continued source of confusion and annoyance. They keep saying they are working on it. Meanwhile the confusion continues....

How hard is it to put a version number on an upgrade??!!! It's nuts! Or am I missing something?

The guy that works there (forget his name) said that there were reasons ...

My mind ran wild thinking of reasons ...

The reason I was given was that they are still in the process of upgrading all the plugins for all the different host applications. (They started with Vegas) And he said it wouldn't make sense to have to redo the website all over again after the other plugins were upgraded.

But again, that still doesn't make sense because how hard can it be for the webmaster to go onto the website and just insert a version number next to each plugin. It's not like there are hundreds of them. It would take him/her just a couple of hours to add them.

Meanwhile, there are no version numbers (either old or new) next to ANY plugin, and there are a couple of plugins with the word "NEW!" next to them, even though they've been available for a few months now. No one bothered to take the "NEW" label down. Which just adds to the confusion.

FWIW, I started this thread because I was relying on the Check for Updates inside the TitlerPro (running an older version) and it was telling me that I had the most current version when I really didn't. Until NewBlue gets the update notification shipshape, I'll look to this forum for notices that new versions are available.

New Blue are all over the place concerning their plugins. It took me ages to figure out how to upgrade my plugins to GPU. When I contacted support they gave me the most basic help and seemed irritated that I had interrupted them. I had to email twice before I got the right answer. My account still doesn't list all the plugins I own even though I've registered them more than once. I've not bought any more of their products because they don't seem very organised or coherent and their plugins seem to crash Vegas. Has the new update improved stability?

I am having the same experience as you with NB. I can totally relate. They seem angry.
paul_w wrote on 4/4/2012, 4:27 PM
The last time i communicated with NB and told them their versioning system was wrong they said 'sorry, we'll fix it'... That was months ago, seems to me they never did,
I gave up with NB, full stop, due to crashes. My own issue was never fixed even though i posted a video for them to see the issue, submitted detailed crash logs and snap shots of the crash using their own reporting tool, in the end, I got the feeling they were sick of me. Crazy. But at least now one of my main crash issues with Vegas has been fixed - NB removed.
Its sad when a product with this much potential simply doesnt hit the mark for whatever reason. But the reality is, its not good enough and people will reject it until it is (same goes for Vegas sorry to say).

Paul.
