NewBlueFX bundled with VMS PPS10

(A search throws up a similar problem with V9, but nothing specifically for V10)

My VMS is a downloaded upgrade dated 14 Dec 2010. I only recently activated Sound Forge without a hitch, using the SerNo given in the Sony confirmation email. Now trying to activate NewBlueFX; pasting the SerNo into the dialog is not accepted - the 'Activate' button remains unavailable (greyed out).

NewBlue say '...Sony handles everything related to bundled software including the distribution of serial numbers. If the serial number they provided is not working, please contact Sony Customer Service and request a new number...'

Perhaps I'm too old and dim but I can't crack the Sony Customer Service/Technical Support etc maze to be able to actually contact them. Can anyone please tell me how to either use the existing SerNo or (if it's actually possible) to put the problem to Sony!?

Sincere thanks for any solution...

(My apologies for not coming back to this earlier - there was progress, but then other bits of Life got in the way.)

Firstly, it seems that others have been less than impressed with the Sony telephone helpline system. The phantom voice generally offers pushbutton options that lead round in circles; holding on in the hope of actually speaking to a live person doesn't work - if the caller doesn't respond to two circuits of the options then the line goes dead. That's the bad news.

The good news is that eventually I cracked the Ticket system and my plea for help was very quickly answered by Jane P. After trying an alternative and still ineffective Serial Number, we eventually established that the activation dialogs that she and I were looking at were not the same one!

Solution: my VMS was picking up on an earlier trial installation of NewBlue Essentials 2 rather than the new bundled NewBlueFX. After a proper clean-up uninstall of the trial, the correct NB options now show on the Effects selection dialog, with no request for activation either.

A lesson there for both parties, it seems. I hope others may be helped by this!
