NewBlueFX EX Titler issues with Radeon 5850

Hi there, I recently purchased MS 13 Suite and am having troubles with the NewBlueFX Titler.

Whenever I add the 'Shear Energy' effect to my text, I notice that the effect flickers often. This happens only at Full HD resolution and above, and it does not matter which codec I use to encode. At 1280x720 and below I have no issues.

Most other effects work fine, but some of them in combination create such a problem too. For example, when I combine the 'Lens Correction' effect with the '3D Wiggle' transition, the effect flickers once again.

The thing is, it happens only on my desktop computer (i5-2400, Radeon HD 5850, 8GB RAM) but on my laptop (i7-3610QM, GeForce GT630, 8GB RAM), I have no such issues.

I have tried reformatting my computer and installing the latest graphics drivers. Disabling/enabling GPU acceleration does not help at all. This leads me to suggest that there may be some incompatibility with the HD 5850 graphic card.

Any idea how I could resolve the problem? I purchased the Suite instead of Platinum just so I can get the NewBlueFX EX Titler and it upsets me that it can't work properly on my desktop. My titler version is build 140115.

I have uploaded a sample here so you guys know what I mean: https://www.dropbox.com/s/8siu4trz9q0pd73/Untitled.mp4

My issue is somewhat similar to this: http://support.newbluefx.com/newbluefx/topics/gpu_issue_with_titler_pro_3

Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.

1. Contact NB Support directly for support. They're wonderful.
2. There may be an update available. I think mine says 140117.
3. Does it happen in the preview window and after render?

Thanks, I'm trying out their support now. BTW, where do you download 140117 from? And yes, it happens both in the preview and after render, which is why it's a problem.

While I wait for a further reply (Edward replied me almost immediately at first! But I guess it's a Sunday so further replies will come slow...), I managed to find 140117 but nope, same issue :(

OK.

Ed is fantastic...He also posts in this forum too. Hopefully he'll be able to help you out.

Thank you.

May I ask what graphics card you use for Newbluefx? Just wondering if it's a common problem with AMD cards. Thanks!

NVidia GTX 650Ti

The flashing issues we've seen seem to have an AMD/ATI card in common. We are researching the issue. Some things that may help (but not always).

1. In Titler Pro, under Settings uncheck the "Use Motion Blur" option.
2. In Titler Pro, under Settings uncheck the "High Quality Preview" option.
3. In Vegas, turn off GPU Acceleration

Thanks for your reply Edward. As mentioned in our e-mails, I've tried all three but to no avail. I understand you have forwarded the issue to the developers. Let's hope they can find out the root cause of the problem!

Also, thanks Mark for your reply. I wonder if I should jump the gun and just switch to a Nvidia card for good...

You can get GPUs relatively inexpensively these days. You don't need a top of the line card.
