Suppossedly, but when I asked them for the Vegas versions for test, they only gave me the Premiere version, so I never got a chance to test them in Vegas.

Yes they are.

JRZ, when you install there's a dialog that appears which asks you which NLE you're using. Click the button beside Vegas and the Vegas version will be installed. Click the one beside Premiere, and the Premier one will be installed. In fact, you can run it multiple time selecting a different NLE each time and it will be usable in each you have selected.

It would appear so.
There's a pretty much complete list of all 3rd party plugins for Vegas including New Blue FX at:

The examples look nice. I change of pace for transitions.

Not for the version I use, they say:
"Note: Not compatible with 64-bit Vegas Pro 8.1"

Fantastic. 2 years after Vista 64 bit was released, and they still do not support this OS..

It may be 2 years since the OS was released but it's only been 3 months since Vegas Pro 8.1 was released. I know they're working on it. I also know that there's no other 3rd party effects plugins that work there either. Some scripts work but that's about it at this point.

Ok, but they do not have to wait for Vegas to develop for the 64 bit platform. And Vegas also was late with a 64 bit version, IMO. If they at NewBlueFX are working on it, it woul dbe nice to know when they have scheduled it to be available, beta versions would of course be interesting.

I love transitions... bought most of the plugins available when I was upgrading to V6, then V7. They look so cool when I play around with them. BUT... I never end up using fancy transitions on paid projects. No one wants them. They date the footage. Remember watching the Woodstock footage, and the "cool" transitions and effects used. Watch them now and see how you feel. Remember the awesome transitions and effects in the 80's videos... watch them now and see how you feel.

These paint transitions and effects look really cool (nothing against the company; I have a number of NewBlue audio FX already) ... I could see playing around with them, but I just can't think of where I'd use them in a paid project.

Actually, CClub, I have too agree with you. If I can't create my own naturally occurring narrative-transition, from SceneA to SceneB, then I am doing something very wrong indeed - but that's for me. Albeit great transitions that they are, 99.9% of the time I don't go near the stock set of trannies that come with Vegas.

I had just about all of those effects with my Sony DME DVE in 1993. I'm shocked at the crap that some of these companies are putting out. The blur transitions they used in the demo video are way better than anything they were selling IMO.

"I had just about all of those effects with my Sony DME DVE in 1993."

I wasn't in this game back then but a mate was. I remember him showing off the wizz bang FXs on the new toy where he worked, a few weeks later every second TVC and music vid had them in it. About 6 weeks later everyone was over them.

"I'm shocked at the crap that some of these companies are putting out."

I guess somebody, someday might find something that does justify their use, Darned if I can either. There was a movie made that did very effectively turn live video into a 'cartoon', . That wasn't just some twee plugin, it was 1,000s of hours of painstaking work rotoscoping with computer assistance. That movie has now set the benchmark for that effect. If you do take the time to watch the trailer then Youtube also throws up some videos of guys trying to match the effect simply. All fail.

I hope that when they do introduce the 64 bit pluggins you can run them with 8.1 and 8.0 on the same computer, not having the 8.0 pluggins interfere with the 8.1 pluggins. Just think of all the possible problems that could happen.
