NewBlueFX Titler Pro Crashes Instantly

John222 wrote on 7/21/2013, 6:40 AM
Anybody ever solve this problem? My system is as follows;

Vegas 11 Pro & Windows 8
AMD Phenom II 1035T Processor x 6
4 Gig Ram
Biostar A780L3G Motherboard
Saphire Radeon HD 6870 Video Card

If I just click to select Titler Pro (latest update) it instantly crashes system. If I drag it to an event, the setting box opens and hangs.
It's not the voideo card, because it also crashed when I was using the onboard graphics (Radeon HD 3000). For that matter, I also have Vegas 11 Movie Studio Platinum installed and it crashes there also.

I'm assuming it must be some setting, because otherwise Vegas 11 is working flawlessly on my system.

Seeing precisely the same issue sometimes too I just open a new instance of Vegas add 1 track on the timeline and make my NB titler texts without problems.

The I render these events to Quicktime with an alpha channel and put this into the main project where I would have made the NB tittles - and voila - I have the nice texts wanted.

When I drag and drop it on a track it just hangs and say's media generator (not responding).

AS I previously said if I just click on it, vegas crashes. The following error is reported.

Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime library
Runtime Error
Program C:\program files\Sony\vegas pro 11.0\vegas110.exe
abnormal program termination

I believe the crashing is caused by the AMD Catalyst display drivers. I had version 13.4 installed and had to go back to Catalyst 12.10 before NewBlue Titler quit crashing. It quit crashing in another video application as well.

Using Nvidia here - and the old and usually reliable driver 296.10.

Thanks Robert. I contacted NewBlue and started working thru the issue with them. In the mean time I will find a copy of 12.10 and give it a go.

I have NB Titler 2.0 and AMD drivers 13.4, and 13.6 beta have an issue with NB (OpenGL). I don't get a crash but the text display is off. First letter is dimmed. Not a problem in previous drivers. I reported this to AMD and NewBlue. I am not sure if either one has looked into what may be the issue.

I am using the 13.1 driver.

The ONLY fix that worked for me was contacting new blue. They sent me a link to a newer version of Titler and it worked. They were VERY responsive and great!

@John222,

I've run into a few problems when going back to 12.10. I'm not sure it is worth the trip back. Windows Media Player crashes, many programs have to be set to run in Windows 7 compatibility mode, and some apps won't work correctly no matter what.

I've always had to use the paid version of Driver Fusion to clean up files after uninstalling AMD Catalyst 13.4 before installing 12.10..

It's fixed and working perfectly now thanks to the excellent customer support at NewBlue. My issue was two fold. First they gave me a link to download Titler Pro 10-130506. So I uninstalled the the NewBlue software and then installed the newly downloaded software. This fixed the instant crashing problem I had whenever I clicked on Titler Pro.

With the crashing problem behind me, now I began having a new problem. After selecting the Titler Pro app I was getting the following message, "titler pro cannot run due to low gpu capability". NewBlue support quickly identified this as an amd catalyst problem. I had catalyst 13.4 installed and they ask me to uninstall it and install 13.3 instead. That was the final piece of the puzzle. My Radon HD 6870 card is playing
Perfectly with Vegas and NewBlue Titler Pro.

I also downloaded an installed build 130506 and got the GPU error message with Catalyst 13.4. I had to go back to Catalyst 13.1, as there isn't a 13.3 for my configuration.

I did a search of ATI's site and found 13.3 Beta 3. That's what I installed. I'm glad I took the effort to get this fixed since there are lots of usable title effects in the NewBlue package. NewBlues customer support is incredible. Was working with a guy named Edward.

Edward sent me a copy of Beta 130729 and Titler Pro now works perfectly with ATI Catylyst 13.4 & Vegas 11 Pro

Problem solved for me.
Edward Troxel from New Blue sent links to new versions of Titler Pro 1 and 2.

This is the link to version 2.

Both TP 1 and 2 now work perfectly in Vegas Pro 12 Build 670.

I have advised SCS and Edward who always responds rapidly and solves any problems. I don't envy him his job, but I'm glad he builds such innovative software!
