I have the same issue. I researched this and it looks like its not compatible with Vegas 17. I have them in Vegas 15 which sucks but I hope they patch this as we still own the product.

Thanks for sharing! This is not acceptable as most of my .veg files include NewBlueFX, and I can no longer render them without changing the effects. This on top of the fact that Vegas 17 crashes every time I apply Nested Timelines... I feel like I wasted my money on the upgrade if this does not get resolved.

This will never be resolved in VPro 17 because it happens only with those FX's that were only available in VPro 15. If you want to use them always in all Vegas Programs you have to buy the stand-alone versions at NewBlue.

This issue has been a years long ongoing issue on the forum. Typically, 3rd part FX purchased with a particular version of Vegas Pro will generally not be accessible in a later version of Vegas Pro, more so in recent years as they now tend to be node locked to the VP version purchased. Even though you pay for them with a VP bundle - albeit at a hugely reduced cost compared to the full licensed FX version -- its best these days to treat them as a 'teaser' aimed at you buying the full licensed version from the 3rd party company for perpetual use in earlier and later VP releases as well as other OFX NLEs.

Regretfully, this is probably now what you are now encountering after moving beyond VP14.

However, if you did indeed buy the full licensed version of NBFX from NBFX, then it should be useable in VP17 - you should then contact NBFX Support for a resolution, They are very quick and responsive to such requests I've found over the years.

I upgraded from 14 to 17... now all of my projects that had NewBlue FX are now watermarked. Any ideas? When I open NewBlueFX App Managr, it says that I am current.

Hi @audiomenu ,

Did you purchase the NewBlue effects you used from us? Or are these effects that were included with a previous version of Vegas Pro?

This is an ongoing problem with 'free' effects/programs. It's been going on for years. If say they came with say V15 and you really rely on them then you must consider buying the standalone version of said program when updating VP. I guess the question becomes do you really need the new features of VP over losing say NB. Maybe stay 1 version behind with VP by buying VP from 'Humble Bundle'. This way you get the final release of VP at an attractive price. From NB's perspective it is simply a marketing opportunity to introduce new users to their product.

These were an incentive with my purchase of the previous program.... nowhere did I see in writing that they would be deemed inactive in the future. I have a valid serial number.

@audiomenu ,

I'm very sorry for the confusion on this, any effects that come with your purchase of Vegas are only licensed to use with that specific version of Vegas. They will never stop working in that version, so if those effects came with your purchase of Vegas Pro 14, they will always work in Vegas Pro 14. But they will not transfer to a newer version of Vegas, as you're seeing.

Are there any particular NewBlue effects / transitions that you use frequently?

audiomenu wrote on 11/19/2019, 3:26 PM

I was using all that Vegas Pro Complete had in that bundle. I would need to go through tons of my .veg files to narrow it down. Magix help desk is saying that I need to contact NewBlueFX to resolve, so I'm kind of stuck in between and I am out $200. That and I get a crash EVERY time I try to Nest Timelines... very frustrating.

The Vegas Pro 14 bundle will watermark in other versions of Vegas. We did find a way to get it to work in version 15 but it will watermark in 16 and 17. It will continue to work fine in Vegas Pro 14 but there is no way to activate it to work in later versions of Vegas.
