Newby needs some help

I have a Sony dsr-dvd200 that records directly to mini-dvd. Movies are easily captured via software that came with camera [Pixela ImageMixer] but this is not a decent editing tool. I just purchased Screenblast MovieStudio 3 becasue it is supposed to handled MPEG-2 files [I think this is waht comes from the mini-dvd]. When I attempt to import files from Pixela, I get stuttering video and no audio [a PC upgrade is in the works]. Any thoughts?

I couldn't find anything about the dsr-dvd200, but I expect it's the same problem as with the other Sony mini-dvd recorders - the audio's recorded in AC-3. Unfortunately MS, along with most entry level NLEs, can't handle that format. Have a search through this forum for other posts on dealing with AC-3, but there's no magic wand I'm afraid!

What non-entry level NLEs can handle AC-3? I bought a Sony mini-dvd recorder, too, and don't want to go through the hassle of converting the audio before editing.

I believe Ulead's MediaStudio Pro can handle MPEG2 and AC-3, but you could try Womble, which is a lot cheaper. It can only do very simple editing, but there's no point in doing anything more as the quality will degrade.
