NewDeshaker and FullHD

For a long time I'm the satisfied user of the NewDeshaker PlugIn.
It works smooth with my HDV 1440x1080 material on Win7(64bits).

I'm planning to switch to a Sony cx-550 camera: thereore I already made some tests with a clip from the cx-550 and that did not -yet- work out ok.

It is impossible to change the "Source pixel aspect" and "Video type" in Pass 1&2.
Both are grey.

I think both have to be changed because the settings are HDV 1440x1080.

Has someone any idea how to change the settings of NewDeshaker to use it in FullHD?

James

Just got my CX550 some days ago - after having used the CX505 a couple of months.

If you start the NewDeshaker script then - just in the middle of of its settings - you see the Deshaker Filter Presets - and through the first of them you can controll the wanted settings.

That said, you can forget all about deshaking, since the CX550 has got the most astonishing stabilizing Active Mode (where 3 "gyros" (actually integrated accelerometers) adjust one of the lenses).

The CX505 had the same - but the CX550 does it even better.
The CX550 even lets you have the active stabilization ON when the camera is on a tripod :-)

Prepare for a great and positive surprise when you receive the CX550.

Thanks for your answer:

Sadly enough it's impossible to change the "Source pixel aspect" in Pass 1&2 from HDV 1040x1080 (1,333).

Everything is grey: any idea to have that changed?

Ah, yes, now I understand.

Also on 2 machines here (XP and Win 7) it seems that New Deshaker detects up to 1440x1080 but not higher.

If you need to go higher you can use the Deshaker Interface by ElCutty: http://www.sonycreativesoftware.com/forums/ShowMessage.asp?ForumID=4&MessageID=694089

But, as I said, you will probably never have to deshake video from a SONY CX550 because its active "gyro" stabilizer works just perfect.

I already tested this version:
Unfortunately it's impossible to use the "Use previous and future frames to fill in borders" setting. (and that gives -to my opinion- the best results).

Thanks for your help!

(other subject)
For now, I hesitate buying the CX550 because I read some bad tests about this camera.
In the German VideoAkltiv magazine (april, may 2010) the test results were even much lower then the XR520 and XR500...

Specially the low-light features were worse.

(I'll wait for the Camcorderinfo test)

Yes - I also saw the german VideoAktiv test of the CX550.

As their test video seems to have been done with some wrong settings of the CX550 I have sent them an email about that some days ago.
There is no way that the CX550 can do a dark and noisy recording like the one shown without some wrong settings.
What might have confused them is that the CX550 does not reset all the settings from power-on to power-on - this made me make some weird recordings before I found that the CX550 remembers the settings you have done - a point that I really missed at the CX505.

I also wrote to VideoAktiv that it would be a shame if some people would not buy the great CX550 because they did a test with a wrong setting :- )

I had the CX505 for a couple of monts and got the CX550 some says ago - I'm still surprised how SONY could make the 550 even better than the 505.

Tanks for your comment: if the test in Camcorderinfo is OK I'll go for the Sony.
I have the impression VideoAktiv had not enough time to do all the tests.
