NewDeshaker Error

amendegw wrote on 2/26/2010, 3:46 AM
I've just got around to installing NewDeshaker on my i7 Laptop:

Win7 Home Premium 64 Bit
Vegas 9.0c 32bit
VirtualDub v1.8.8 (although I've also tried v1.9.8 with same error)
VirtualDub installation directory: "C:\Program Files (x86)\VirtualDub\VirtualDub.exe"
Deshaker.vdf directory: "C:\Program Files (x86)\VirtualDub\plugins\Deshaker.vdf"
NewDeshaker directory: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Sony\Vegas Pro 9.0\Script Menu\New Deshaker.dll"

I put a plain vanilla .9091 NTSC DV (.avi) clip on my timeline, select the event and start New Deshaker, which, in turn, renders a new clip to a new track. Then the script starts VirtualDub and I immediately get the following errors:

and...

Can anyone help?

Just my 1,5 cents: On my installation everything seems to work well if VirtualDub etc. is installed in C:\VirtualDub.

Might work just to reinstall and specify that directory.

Can't say why - but I see that I have an old note saying so - and when I do so it just works - on the 3 machines, that I have here.
(all Win 7 (Ultima and Home) 64. Vegas 9.0c 32. VirtualDub 1.8.8).

I've spent all morning trying to figure this out and I've gotten by the "MZ variable" error. (stupid operator error - I pointed the script file to the deshaker.vdf file not the deshaker.vds file).

However I continue to get the following error:

Here's my Configuration settings:

It seems to me as you have not properly selected the clip to be deshaked:
try doubleclick on the clip, and then open NewDeshaker.

Sorry, can't help you:

NewDeshaker works fine on my XP (32bits) and WIN7 (64bits).

Did the installation and location exactly according the installing defaults.

"Did the installation and location exactly according the installing defaults."
I think I did this correctly, but can you give me some details here? What are the defaults I should be adhereing to? I've done so many uninstall & re-installs I may have screwed something up.

For example:

I originally installed VirtualDub in the c:\Program Files (x86) folder, but then moved it to the C:\VirtualDub folder.

The New Deshaker .dll was installed in the c:\Program Files (x86)\Sony\Vegas Pro 8.0\Script Menu folder but I moved it to c:\Program Files (x86)\Sony\Vegas Pro 9.0\Script Menu folder.

The Deshaker.vdf plugin was installed to the VirtualDub\Plugins folder.

So, the question is... Where should everything be installed for Win 7 64bit, Vegas 9.0c 32bit?

...Jerry

PS: If I run Deshaker.vdf directly from VirtualDub, it seems to work correctly.
PPS: Don't know whether this is a clue or not. I can't get New Deshaker to log anything (even if I pre-create an empty Deshaker.log file).

I installed as followed:

VirtualDub Exe: C:\Program Files|VirtualDub_and_Deshaker\VirtualDub.exe

Script File: C:\Program Files\VirtualDub_and_Deshaker\Deshaker.vds

The New Deshaker.dll and the New Deshaker.dll.config are in the: C:\Program Files\Sony\Vegas Pro 9.0\Script Menu

As I'm working Win7 (64bits) above named are NOT in the Program Files (x86)n but in Program Files

The VirtualDub_and_Deshaker map is in Program Files.

succes!

Yes, I unzipped the "VirtualDub_and_Deshaker.zip" to that location.

You can find the "VirtualDub_and_Deshaker.zip" here:

http://homepage.ntlworld.com/a.edmiston/deshaker.htm

under Zip Files > VirtualDub Zip

SOLVED!!

Thanks, HDJame - you provided the clue that fixed my problem. I'll document it here for others.

My mistake was... I downloaded the "New Deshaker-8.1.0.2.zip" file from the http://homepage.ntlworld.com/a.edmiston/deshaker.htm
site (note: it does not contain the Deshaker.vds file). I then downloaded VirtualDub from http://www.virtualdub.org/ and Deshaker.vdf from http://www.guthspot.se and configured the whole setup manually.

It was only when I downloaded "VirtualDub_and_Deshaker.zip" from the edmiston site did I find that this was the only place that I could find a fully configured Deshaker.vds file.

Much thanks for your help,
