News on New VMS for Vista

Anyone have any idea when Sony will be writing a new version of VMS to be supported on Vista, since they offer ZERO support for VMS 6 platinum on Vista? Or maybe writing a patch to keep the rundll errors from popping up?

I'm running VMS 6 and depend on it to pay for my college classes... no editing, no college. Sony... are you listening? =)

I purchased and installed Roxio's Easy Media Creator software and after the installation, the rundll error that was popping up on start-up of the VMS 6 Platinum is no longer happening. I am assuming there was a codec in the software that was either updated or changed with that software installation.

I do have problems still working with my mpeg4 files. I can open and work with them after the initial install of the software, but after my machine goes into sleep for the first time, I get an error message related to Quicktime. I was hoping that quicktime update would fix the problem, but not so far.

Does anyone from Sony actually even read and post at these forums?

These are "peer support forums" - I think if you re-read the disclaimer when you signed up, it's pretty clear that these forums are not meant for formal support issues.

Given the amount of wasted bandwidth in these forums, it's really no surprise that anyone from the Sony/Madison group participates on a regular basis.

If you have a technical issue that needs to be addressed, you should escalate it via the formal mechanism (click on "support" at the top of the page).

Oh, I also meant to ask why in the world you are betting your livelihood on Vista? Frankly, only a fool would make such a move. If editing pays the bills, then do it on a supported OS platform. My business also relies on my ability to edit projects with Vegas and there is no way I'm looking at Vista for at least another year; possibly longer.

Well, Thank you very much for your extremely polite and very humble response to my question. I sure do appreciate you taking the time out of your busy day to help and encourage a poor wretch such as myself. May your day be flled with sunshine and flowers and may others spread as much joy, happiness, and wonder into your life as you seem to enjoy spreading in the lives of thers. Many blessings to you in return for ALL your wonderful advice.

it's really no surprise that anyone from the Sony/Madison group participates on a regular basis.

I say it's too bad they don't. Pinnacle staffers participate regularly on the Pinnacle forums, but then again, their product really needs it... that's a topic for another day.

Over on the regular Vegas forum, "Spot" participates regularly, that's about as close to a Sony staffer as I've seen.

Sony staff do participate in this forum from time to time, but they don't talk about futures. Many companies have this as a policy - too many people interpret a statement like "we're hoping to have something" as a solid committment, and then complain furiously when the date's missed. It's less hassle just to say nothing.

No problem, any time.
