Next release of Architect?

I have DVD Architect Studio 4.5 (Part of the Vegas 9 Platinum Studio package) and would like to create Blu-ray DVD menus. I know that only Architect Pro 5.0 allows this.

So, I would like to know what my options are. I can't afford the $600 Pro version. Will the next Studio release include Blu-ray menu support? If so, when is the next planned release?

Also, I'm thinking about downloading the trial version of Pro 5.0 to burn a menu for my current project, just to get it done (my parents are eagerly awaiting seeing my daughter's first year in high-definition!). Are there any restrictions/expirations on the trial version, aside from disallowing use after 30 days? The burned disc won't suddenly stop working after a month, will it?

Look around on Ebay, you may find Vegas 8 Pro that will include DVDA 5 at a reasonable price since version 9 has been released...lots of people are selling their old versions and tranferring the license to the new owners, I sold mine and transferred the license to a co-worker at a great price...

The only people who know the answer to either of those questions are Sony and beta testers (assuming there's even anything to test). And neither group can say anything publicly.

Once upon a time, the trial version of DVD Architect would not burn anything other than a sample project available from Sony. I don't know if that's true any longer.

I don't think that would even be possible, so I'm gonna say "no." Again, assuming burning is enabled in the trial version.

I'd go with the previous suggestion -- check online retailers and eBay for a cheap copy of Vegas 8. It comes with DVD Architect 4.5, which can be upgraded to 5.0 for free. (Be careful, though -- some online retailers are selling a DVDA-less Vegas Pro 8. If they're selling for less than $300, it probably doesn't include DVDA at all.

Need to be careful on eBay, too, as super-cheap copies will probably be pirated.

Thanks for the info. I'll give the trial version a try and wait, wait, wait. $300 is still pretty steep for what I'm trying to do with the software (home movie menu authoring).

Last month Sony had an limited time offer where the upgrade price from VMS 9 to Vegas Pro 9 was around $200. The upgrade includes DVA 5 plus a few extra goodies. I wished I would have taken advantage of it then. If they make this offer again, I'm doing it. Anybody expect that offer to come around again soon?

I read a few days ago that the deal got extended until the end of this month (30-31July). I can't find where I read this at tho. I just checked the Sony upgrade page and the download price is $185:

Yes, but that is the upgrade price from Pro 8 to Pro 9. We were talking about upgrading VMS 9 to Pro 9, which is an entirely different upgrade package.

They just extended it through July 31 (TODAY)

If SCS follows their release history for VMS, a new version should be released in the next month or two. You may want to wait until it's announced to see if SCS gives Architect Studio BR capabilities. The VMS/AS upgrade will invariably come with a nice upgrade discount.

I would double check the upgrade offer, the $200 price sounds wrong, the studio version was only $59.00 and they are offering a upgrade to Vegas pro 9 for $200 ????, thats just 20 more bucks than the current offer to VPro 8 holders which jumps to $240.00 at the end of the promo period.....on the website you are looking at $400.00 or more for the upgrade from studio ..no way are they going to give Studio9 owners a V9 Pro upgrade for $200..... If that was the case current VPro 8 owners would have been offered a much lower upgrade option....
