That's a nice deal. I already have a 1394 card (actually on my Audigy 2 sound card) but this would give me analog in/out without having to use a DV camcorder as a converter. Canopus also has the ADVC50 and ADVC100 analog-to-1394 converters which I'd probably prefer.
I notice the software includes Ulead® DVD MovieFactoryTM instead of the DVD Architect software that Sonic Foundry has available with Vegas. I wonder how the 2 DVD packages compare.
If you haven't already post in the Video Factory forum... Another path to upgrade.
While I'm at it though I doubt anyone would be interested here if you already have Vegas, CompUSA was selling the Sony version of Video Factory on a special for only $20, what a steal.
The ACEDVio is really a sweet deal at $499 when you consider the ADVC-100 is $299. That means you’re getting Vegas 4 for $200! If you consider that DVD MovieFactory is $45 you are getting Vegas 4 for $155. That’s what we Vegas 3 users paid to upgrade. This is a really nice deal and I would definite go for it if I had to have analog in/out as well as DV.

I have both and they don’t really compare since one is $45 and the other is $200. DVD MovieFactory is great for making DVD’s of home movies but it can only make thumbnail menus. You can’t make a Hollywood style DVD with a main menu that says, Play, Scene Selection, Special Features, etc. You can only have thumbnails of your video that link to more thumbnail videos if there are chapters defined. All submenus have to be chapter points. You have a fixed set of templates to choose from. You can modify the templates but you cannot just drop a video anywhere on the menu, they can only occupy the areas the template allows. Menus and thumbnails can only be static pictures. (no motion).
DVD Architect gives you a lot more control. You can make text based menus as well as thumbnails. Menus and Thumbnails can be animated video. You make submenus for special features that are not chapters. It has Dolby AC3 support. You can make you own templates and drop video and text anywhere you want on the screen. In general, a more professional product but we’re comparing a $45 package to a $200 package so you would expect this.
