Nifty Vegas 4 veggie file

Hey all. I kind of went nuts experimenting with the new noise texture in the beta and after several hours ended up with this project. I thought I'd share it with anyone who likes disecting veggies. Let me know what you think.

Here's a rendered version.
Here's the project file. Be sure to open it with the Vegas 4 beta.

All the graphics were made with generated Vegas media. Notice the moving clouds and contour on the grass. The flag was done with a combination of noise texture and wave filter.

SOFO: There are a couple bugs you'll notice if you render the project directly to WMV, one with top and bottom borders and another with the landscape being shifted up a couple pixels. Don't know if these are known issues or not. I got the above WMV by rendering to DV first.

Very, very slick. Perfect combination of sound and effects.

Nice animation, Jeremy. Good clear image from your WMV. What setting did you use for the WMV render? Are you using WM8 or 9?
FYI-I've always had to render to .avi files and then to WMV in VV3. Too much compression all at once from the timeline especially with several layers and F/X, etc.

Thanks. I used Windows Media 8, max quality, 2-pass encoding, 15fps at 320x240, 1M bit rate setting.

SOFO did an awesome thing, adding noise textures to Vegas 4. And the ability to apply that texture to a displacement map creates a pretty cool rippling effect in the flag. It was hard to get it looking anything like a flag actually (it's much easier to create an underwater effect). Though the text and flag ripple in the same directions using the same noise texture, I had to decrease the amount of ripple in the text considerably to avoid distortion. The one thing I could not figure out was how to add shadows to the flag, where the ripples occur. The effect of compositing modes seems to change based on the parent overlay mode, which may make this impossible without pre-rendering.

Hm...maybe a fishtank next. Anyone have any veggie fish? :-)

Here's fish:
Vegas fish (378kB)
The water came from the Vegas Factory free utility disc and the fish are fonts. They are very cartoon-like, but the last little one is quite believable I think. I pulled down the velocity a bit, to sink it deeper into the water. By the way, it's Vegas 3c, and pre Satish.

I tried to fool around with your wave settings a bit and noticed that when I edit part of a number by writing directly into the box and press Enter, the whole number goes back to zero unless I've written the whole number in. Like, it's no good editing 0,018 to 0,020 by changing the two last digits only. Clearly a bug; I can do it in Vegas 3c. I have to pull the slider, which is a bit coarse, write the whole number, which is a bit tedious or select the slider and use the arrow keys.

Anyway, thanks for sharing the inspiration.
