@Reyfox WHAT? I cant believe something like this would be possible. Nikon?..... Nickon?
Isn't RED the cream of the crop where cutting edge Camera technology is conceived..... Why are all these big successful software companies and now RED selling out and going under. Nikon?
Reyfox, hold on a minute, i have not even read the article you linked as yet to how i am surprised. Let me read a bit more on the matter.
@Steve_Rhoden I was shocked by this. Not because RED was acquired by another company, but that it was acquired by Nikon. There was talk a couple of years ago of the struggles Nikon was having financially. Sony and Canon were eating away Nikon with their mirrorless cameras. Nikon was having sensor dust issues with their DSLR's and mirrorless entries.
@Reyfox This is more than a surprise i tell you. Everyone is shocked.
But what i find to be real deceptive Reyfox, is i too heard wind about Nikon past financial struggles and this sensor dust issues with their mirrorless technology, and now in most of the write up about this acquisition, they have the gall to be saying Nikon were also at the cutting edge in this field and too were experts in mirrorless tech.... yeah right!
No serious or professional Videographer has ever considered Nikon Cameras as an option. They were always more geared towards Photography.
@Steve_Rhoden well, I think that now, people will have to start to think of Nikon for video. Time will tell through the future technology if this will work out for them.
I didn't want to see Nikon fail when it was having problems. Competition is a good thing. I personally wouldn't own one myself, but now, everyone will be watching them.
@Reyfox Yep, all eyes will be on them and where this is going. But i can tell you, the novelty associated with having and using RED Cinema Cameras has gone out the window..... Competition is always good, so i hope the rest of the competition, Canon, Panasonic, Arri, etc wont slack off and continue to step up their game.
