I finally used Vegas 5 for the 1st time since buying several months ago (didn't have XP). I am having same problem as I did with Screenblast. When adding media that was recorded on my Sony DVDCam, it will show video but I can't figure out how to get the audio. I tried help menus, but as usual they do not help!
I really want to get started with editing my home footage, but am fustrated by not getting it!
Thanks!

If you need answers here, you need to provide info, or else people don't know how to respond. I'm not familiar with DVD cams, so I don't know how they're recorded into computers. You may be getting mpg2 video with AC3, in which case you can't import the audio, but if the audio on your cam is mpg or PCM, you should be able to hear them. Vegas is easy to use once you become use to it, but you'll have to work with it a couple of months before it starts getting easy. How do you download the video? Do you put the disk in the computer or do you firewire it? As far as I know, DVD cams were made for people who don't want to bother with editing, they just want it on DVD now. You might have been better off with a Digital 8. You'll probably have to look up threads here, that ask about editing mpg2 files and maybe converting AC3 back to a usable format. Get out the manuals to your camera and tell us what's transfered to your PC. If you could 'firewire' the video into your computer, the sound should be locked into it, somehow.
