no audio after rendering

Using Vegas 7.0a with an hour and a half length in timeline including a lot of video. After clicking on "make movie" and adjusting settings according to VASST training video, I have had 2 problems. One . . . the render stops at about 63% . . . I have since replaced a file on the timeline hoping that it was a corrupt file.

Two . . . each time I have tried rendering (even though it quit before finishing), I have no audio in my final MPG file. Nothing is muted on the timeline and plays fine in Vegas Movie Studio and when previewing.

Suggestions?

Audio is not normally rendered as part of the MPEG file, but instead is rendered to a seperate audio file as either PCM or AC3 format. Not certain how make movie does it, but if you aren't finding an audio file, then it may be safe to assume that the audio gets rendered after the video render completes.

You need to check which template you're using for "Make Movie". If you're working with NTSC to make a DVD then Scott's right - audio isn't included in the MPEG. This isn't a limitation of VMS, btw, it's the way the DVD standards have been defined. The workflow is create the video, create the audio (MUCH quicker than creating video!) then join them in the DVD authoring app.

Thanks! Both responses were helpful from each of you. When it goes to DVD Architect, it automatically picks up BOTH files including the audio. I was trying to play the MPEG outside the program!

I have posted another MAJOR problem today so if either of you have answers . . .I'm open to any suggestions and desperate for a fix!
