No Audio from DVD

I am using Vegas 7 with DVDA. I have just upgraded from Vegas 3.

I have rendered the Video with MPEG-2 and used a DVDA template. I have used separate .ac3 for the audio as has been suggested in previous postings. There are no errors or compression warnings when I render in DVDA.

There is no sound output on the DVD when viewing in Windows Media Player. I also notice that when viewing the DVD from Windows there are no data files in the AUDIO_TS directory - or for that matter in the post rendered DVDA TEMP directory.

I can preview the project in DVDA ok. Any ideas anyone?

First let's be sure that there's really no audio present. If you play some other DVD in Windows Media Player, do you hear audio? Do you have another DVD playing app that you and try, or a set-top DVD player?

there are no data files in the AUDIO_TS directory

Odd as it sounds, it's supposed to be that way. The AUDIO_TS directory isn't used on most DVDs -- it's only there for compatability reasons. The audio itself is kept in the same files as the video (the VOBs in the VIDEO_TS directory).
