No audio heard/captured when using Video Capture

I can not hear/capture audio from my input source (ATI all-in-wonder 128 pro video card). After a system restart I launch the Video Capture program. I hear audio but can not see video. I close the capture app and open my ATI TV viewer. I hear audio/see video. I close the tv app and return to Capture app. I have video now, but no audio. Maybe the audio resource is not being released by the ATI app? Any help would be appreciated.

John,
I've got a similar problem. Our setups sound pretty much the same: FIC AZ11E motherboard with AC97 sound built in; ATI All-In-Wonder 128 Pro AGP video w/32 megs; Athlon 1.3Ghz cpu; 256 meg; win2k. I use the ATI video capture from its Multimedia package, and I can hear the audio until I actually press the record button - then no audio. It seems as if the AC97 sound on the motherboard is not working in full-duplex mode - it can only play or record sound, but not both at the same time. The manual says it is full-duplex, but there are no settings in the bios I can find to set it. I was able to successfully capture video with my older system with a different audio setup. My plan is to purchase a second sound card, disable the on-board sound, and give it a try.
I contacted FIC's tech support about the problem and got a reply that they felt the problem was the video card... I don't think so...
So that's my two cents worth - I'm leaning towards the AC97 sound as the culprit...

Make sure that you are using the latest recommended driver for your ATI video card. Also make sure your are running ATI MMC 7.1. I noticed a significant improvement with the capture ability with the new software (much lower CPU utilization).
