No Audio neither is it showing on Timeline

Dave-O wrote on 4/30/2012, 10:30 AM
Appologies if this has already been covered.
Purchased Vegas Movie Studio HD Platinum 11 Production Suite last week and Loaded Program onto both my Asus 64bit and Acer 32Bit laptops.
Using the Asus I cannot get audio and nothing is shown for audio on Timeline, when playing back - no problems playing back on the Acer.
Windows Media, Windows Live Movie Maker and CyberLink Power Director play both Audio and Video perfectly on both computers and strangely enough the Acer plays the Movie Studio video with both sound and video.
Camera that I recorded video on is a JVC mini DV and the file is av1.
Mute is off in Movie Studio and I cannot think what could be preventing audio and Timeline operating correctly.
Any help is appreciated.

Post your complete file properties using MediaInfo.
Also the Quicktime versions installed on both machines.
Most likely it is a codec not installed on one machine.

And this video was captured by Vegas' capture utility over a FireWire connection?
Dave-O wrote on 5/1/2012, 7:46 AM
Hi, Originally firewire recording made from JVC miniDV into ACER. Then recording copied over to ASUS via my memory stick (Asus does not have a firewire connection).
The provided Cyberlink Power Director disk was copied to the ASUS and works perfectly.
Could it have lost something in transit ?

The easiest way to check that would be to see if you get audio when you edit the video in Vegas on the Acer.

(I believe you're allowed to have the program installed on two different computers -- as long as they're both yours.)

Yes, both computers are mine, my wife uses the Acer and I use the Asus.
Yes, Vegas Studio works perfectly on the Acer.
How do I find out what is missing that prevents the Timeline sound to be seen and heard.
What method can I use to transfer video directly from firewire mini DV camcorder
to Asus laptop considering it is absent of a firewire input.
