No Audio on captured video

I've got a Panasonic PV-GS500, I'm using the USB cable it came with. When I capture the video, there's no audio. The video works fine on the editor and I know that sound was recorded because I can hear it on playback from the camera itself. The audio bars on the editor are straight horizontal lines, showing no audio. How do I get the audio?

Throw away the USB cable. USB captures are generally low-quality webcam type video. Awful stuff, lots of problems. Use a firewire cable.

Agreed. Vegas does not build in full support for USB Capture devices and requires IEEE-1394 (Firewire) for video capture. Set that up and it'll be smooth sailing.
