No Audio on Mono devices

I create movies that apparently sound well.

When uploaded to YouTube/Vimeo and played at a smartphone device without earphones I can't hear (they almost dont sound). When I connect earphones or listen it at a PC with basics speakers I can listen to it.

I have tried different formats for video and audio with the same result. i was wondering if it was a software issue.

I attach an example, a Youtube link:

Is it possible that one of your channels is phase-inverted*? If so, when mixed together to make mono they would cancel each other out, or mostly so. Quick simple test is to right-mouse-button click on the audio in your project and on the popup menu choose Channels / Mono. If your sound disappears then then you probably have the phase problem. I'm not sure how you would invert one channel in the Studio version directly, but you could always duplicate the audio into two different tracks, in one select channels / left only, in the other right only, pan the left one to the left and right one to the right, then hit the invert button in the track header for only one of them.

*<mild rant>Dunno why people often incorrectly call this 180° out of phase. It's not. It's inverted, not shifted.</mild rant>

Did you by chance have a single, mono microphone with an XLR connector, then use an adapter to convert the XLR to a stereo mini-plug for your camera/camcorder? If so, the problem might be your XLR-to-stereo adapter.

I'm no expert, but I think some adapters are meant for a stereo XLR to stereo miniplug, and (I think) when used with a mono mic can result in the mic's "+" and "-" signals being routed to the camera "L" and "R" inputs (with shield connected to ground), so you end up with opposite phase signals being recorded by your camera. The two audio channels play back fine when sent to separate speakers, but cancel each other out when the two signals are both sent to a single speaker.

If you have just a single, mono mic for recording, find the right XLR adapter, but in the short term you can right click on your audio track in Vegas and select "Channels", then select "Left Only " (or "Right Only"). This will instruct Vegas to pick one or the other of the input channels, and then send that audio to both left and right output channels.

@Kelly (Chienworks): I don't think Movie Studio offers an "Invert Phase" option for audio tracks. I'm basing that on distant memory, and on screenshots of the interface from this page: http://www.sonycreativesoftware.com/moviestudiope
