No Audio on Video

Dave_Owens wrote on 11/8/2004, 11:14 AM
I captured a video from my video camera via firewire.
Moved Video from Media Pool to Time Line. A Video showed on the Video Track and an Audio appeared on the Voice track. Clicked play to test it out. Good Audio and Video.
Clicked Make Movie, and selected Hard Disk as Destination.
Next, While it was Rendering it had no Audio. THe Video appeared in the Video Window but no Audio.
Is there something that is need to turn ON?

Did the resulting file have the audio?

You will not hear audio when rendering.

this is a problem with the software, I've tried several way to elminate the issue. I get about 20 seconds of audio and then it cuts off. One thing that worked and I don't know if it will be consistant, is take your audio track into sound forge save it as 48k bring it back into your movie then re-render

I've seen this too. In my case I used the default settings for avi, NTSC DV. I got no audio and was able to reproduce the problem. This is a bug. By going through the 'advanced render' options and making sure the 'include audio' box was checked it worked. But that shouldn't need to be done.

I had a similar problem. I rendered by selecting "burn to dvd" and when I opened it in dvda2 I couldn't hear the sound but there was an audio file. It turned out to be a bug in movie studio that the update fixed. I installed the update and had to re-render the file and it sorted the problem out.

I'm using MS4 build 48 so I've got the latest version I think. They may have fixed part of the code but they're not finished.

When you Make Movie to your hard drive, are you making a DV-AVI movie?

A DV-AVI exporting to a DV-AVI shouldn't need any rendering at all so, if you're not getting sound on an exporting DV-AVI, you've got a real issue!

If you're exporting an MPEG, however, something could be going wrong in your rendering.

But try exporting your DV-AVI timeline as a DV-AVI first so we can at least see where things are going wrong.

I had the same problem. Search for the up grade 4.0a. It worked for me.

OK, again, I'm using 4.0a build 48. If there's a later version I can't find it.

I imported DV from my camcorder, made some edits and said 'Save to hard drive', chose 'Video for Windows (*.avi)', NTSC DV and hit Next. No audio. Going through the advanced render options and making sure 'include audio' was checked fixed the problem. But the default settings (that is, not using the 'advanced render' options) will sometimes produce audio and sometimes they won't.

Thx everyone. I too had the same problem. Very frustrating. I got the update at http://mediasoftware.sonypictures.com/download/step1.asp?CatID=2

Look for the one called Vegas Movie Studio Update 4.0a

This is the exact link: http://mediasoftware.sonypictures.com/download/step2.asp?DID=547

It appears to fix the problem. I don't know why it was so hard to find this solution. Sony should have been a lot more proactive in letting me know there was a problem and an update. I had tried seaching the knowledge base, etc. but had not seen this solution until I found your post. Thx.

Bought Vegas Movie Studio (VMS) Version 4 Buiild 48 yesterday and I do have a problem with NO AUDIO.

I'm using Sony DVD cam and after finalising, the MPEG2 files are all in my hard drives. Thus capturing work is a not a problem. The real problem is NO AUDIO. All the MPEG2 files can be played by Windows Media Player or other DVD players with audio BUT NOT in VMS during editing as well as after burning them in CD or DVD. Attaching music is not a problem, loud and clear.

Installed too VMS Update 4.0a but the problem is still there.

What to do next? Highly appreciate someone to help. Thanks in advance.
