Is there an empty audio track when you put the clip on the T/L?
Is it possible you disabled Capture Audio in VidCap?
Are you capturing via firewire?
Bob.

USB is no good for capture. Should capture with Firewire. USB requires a more compressed type of video, like mpeg or a tiny window for .avi's. You should have a Firewire card and if your camera has firewire, your ready to go. If your camera does not have a firewire jack, then you'll need an A/D box (like a Canopus ADVC100) to transfer properly through firewire. Check the search feature here, for compliant firewire cards.

I understand that there is probally a better way to capture than usb but i am just begging and i am able to capture video with audio just fine. It is when my video is transfered to my media pool that is the problem. I have no audio then! I can transfer the video but in the audio part of the time line the sound graph is completely flat with no sound!

Just curious, but how do you know you ware capturing the audio just fine?

I'll chime in with the others and suggest that you get a firewire card and cable. It doesn't cost more than a few blank tapes. And capturing, editing, and quality will be vastly better.
